The Worth County Fair Board is seeking a dependable, hardworking individual to serve as our General Fairgrounds Maintenance Person. This role is vital to ensuring our facilities are safe, clean, and welcoming for exhibitors, vendors, and the general public. The ideal candidate is a “jack-of-all-trades” who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining community spaces.

Position: General Fairgrounds Maintenance
Reports To: Fair Board President / Maintenance Committee Chair
Compensation: $15.00 per hour
Employment Type: Seasonal / Variable Part-Time

Required Schedule & Availability

This position features a variable schedule based on the Fair’s seasonal needs.
Applicants must be available for the following:

  • Peak Season (Fair Event): Full-time availability (40+ hours per week) required from June 11 through June 24, 2026. This includes weekends and evenings.
  • Off-Peak Season (Spring/Summer/Fall): 5–10 hours per week for general groundskeeping, and event prep.
  • Winter Season: 5–10 hours per month for facility checks, snow removal (as needed), and equipment maintenance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Groundskeeping: Cleanup and general landscaping to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Facility Prep: Setting up/tearing down benches, tables, and bleachers; cleaning barns and exhibit halls prior to and following events.
  • Waste Management: Routine trash removal, refilling dog waste bag dispensers, and supervising additional hired grounds crew during the peak fair week.
  • Minor Repairs: Basic carpentry, painting, and troubleshooting minor plumbing or electrical issues (lightbulb replacement, etc.).
  • Equipment Care: Routine maintenance of tractor and hand tools.

Qualifications

  • Ability to operate lawn care equipment and basic power tools.
  • Physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
