Sponsored by the Northwood Green Thumb Garden Club. You must have a fair button before making entries. Entries having no competition will not be awarded premiums unless judged worthy. No monetary awards will be given to any exhibits that leave before 6 pm Sunday.

GENERAL RULES

1.    The schedule is the law of the show.

2.    This is a Standard Flower Show according to the requirements of National Garden Clubs Inc.

3.    Entries open to all interested amateur gardeners.

4.    All exhibits in design division must contain plant material, fresh and/or dried as specified in each   section.  Material need not have been grown by exhibitor.

5.    Horticulture exhibits are to be grown by exhibitor.  Names/cultivars where possible.  Foliage must be attached to specimen where so grown.

6.    Exhibitor may make more than one entry per class or sub-class if each is a different genus, species, cultivar type, size or color.  Only one premium will be awarded per person per lot.

7.    No artificial fruits, foliage, nuts, flowers or vegetables are permitted.

8.    No plant material on the Iowa noxious weed list is allowed.

9.    Dried/treated plant material permitted in the design classes where so stated in the schedule.  A limited amount of spray paint, glitter, etc. is permitted if tastefully done. Fresh plant material may never be treated.

10.  The show will be judged by accredited judges of NGC.  Decisions of the judges are final.

11.  All containers and components entered at owner’s risk.

12.  Container grown plants must be in exhibitor’s possession by  May 15th, 2008.

13.  Inconspicuous wedging of horticulture specimens is permitted.

14.  Youth are encouraged to enter.

15.  Exhibitors in Division III Artistic Design are encouraged to replace fresh plant material if necessary.

16.  The Millie Bottleman Award and Marj Pangburn Award may be awarded to any exhibit scoring 90 or above. All other awards must score 95 or above.

17.  To receive top awards, exhibits must be correctly named, according to schedule specifications, giving genus, species, and/or variety/cultivar where available. Common names may also be given.

Section A

HORTICULTURE

           

The Award of Horticulture Excellence will be awarded to the named exhibit of fresh plant material judged finest in
            the Horticulture division.  Only one (1) to be offered.  All general requirements must be met and be named.

The Horticulture Sweepstakes Award will be awarded in Horticulture for the highest total of points for red and blue
            ribbons.

Artistic Sweepstakes Award will be awarded in the Artistic design by the highest total of points for blue and red ribbons.

 The public will be voting on their favorite design by ballot which will end at 9:00 pm Friday night. The winner will be announced Saturday, at 9:00 a.m. This award will be “The People’s Choice Award”.

SECTION A:  TRI-COLOR

           

            All plant material must be fresh.  Coloring or treating fresh plant material is never allowed.  Plant material need not have been grown by designer.  Accessories permitted.  A TRI-COLOR Award is offered in the class if there is a minimum of four entries in each of three classes.

SECTION B: AWARD OF DISTINCTION 

           

            All plant material must be dried. The Award of Distinction is offered in the following class if there is a minimum of
            four entries in each of three classes. Accessories permitted.

SECTION C: DESIGNER’S CHOICE 

           

Exhibitor has complete freedom to choose plant material and other components to use in these classes.  All general rules, however, must be met.  A Designer’s Choice Award is offered in the following classes if there is a minimum of four entries in each of three classes.

SECTION D: TABLE ARTISTRY

 

                       Classes must consist of  fresh and or dried plant material.  Construction, accessories, backgrounds and
            underlays are permitted.  The Table Artistry Award is offered in the following classes if there is a minimum of four entries
            in each of three classes.  (Table must be supplied by exhibitor).  Classes 1, 2 and 3 are functional.
