Premiums:
The NGC Standard System of Awards:
• Only one first place (blue) ribbon per class. Must score 90 or above.
• Only one second place (red) ribbon per class. Must score 90 or above.
• Only one third place (yellow) ribbon per class. Must score 90 or
above.
• One or more honorable mention (white) ribbons as merited. Must score
75 or above.

& II: 1st - $3.00, 2nd - $2.00

III: 1st - $3.00, 2nd - $2.00
The Public will be voting on their favorite
design by ballot. Voting will end at 9pm Friday night. The winner will
be announced Saturday at 10am. This award is the “People’s Choice
Award”.
GENERAL RULES
1. Entries
are to remain in place until 6pm Sunday, June 27, 2010
2. The schedule is the law of the show
3. This is a standard flower show according to the requirements of the
National Garden Clubs, Inc.
4. Entries open to all interested amateur gardeners.
5. No artificial fruits, foliage, nuts, flowers or vegetables are
permitted in any division. Emphasis on fresh plant material.
6. No plant material on the Iowa Noxious weed list is allowed.
7. The show will be judged by accredited judges of NGC. Decisions and
awards of the judges are final.
8. All containers and components entered at the owner’s risk.
9. Entry tags to be filled out in advance if possible, or on entry day
10. Entry tags available at Flower Zone by Connie
11. General chairpersons and classification Chair for Horticulture and
design will be available during judging.
12. Classification Chairpersons of Horticulture and Design will review
all entries for proper identification and conformity to schedule.

DIVISION 1
- Horticulture exhibits are to be grown by
exhibitors. NAMES/CULTIVERS where possible. Foliage must be attached to
specimen where so grown
- Exhibitors may make more than one entry per class or sub-class if each
is a different genius, species, cultivar type, size or color. Only one
premium will be awarded per person per lot.
- Container grown plants must be in exhibitors possession by May 15, 2010
- Inconspicuous wedging of horticulture specimens is permitted.
- Cut specimens to be displayed in clear colorless glass bottle supplied
by exhibitor.
- Other specimens to be shown on a paper plate supplied by exhibitor.
- The Award of Horticulture Excellence will be awarded to the named
exhibit of fresh plant material judged finest in the Horticulture
division. Only one (1) to be offered. All general requirements must be
met and be named. The Horticulture Sweepstakes Award will be awarded in
Horticulture.

- A design must be the work of only one exhibitor and that exhibitor’s
name must appear on the entry card.
- All exhibits in design division must contain plant material, fresh
and /or dried as specified in each section. Material need not have been
grown by exhibitor, but encouraged to be grown by exhibitor.
- Dried/treated plant material is permitted in the design classes where
so stated in the schedule. A limited amount of spray paint, glitter,
etc. is permitted if tastefully done. Fresh plant material may never be
treated.
- Exhibitors in Division II are encouraged to replace fresh plant
material if necessary.
- Designs must be registered in advance with Design Entries Chair. If
unable to fulfill assignment it is the designers responsibility to find
a replacement.
- Designer has freedom to choose traditional or creative style with any
design type listed unless restricted by schedule.
- Refer to Handbook for Flower Shows pages 189 to 190.
Section A Tri-Color
All plant material must be fresh. Coloring or treating fresh plant
material is never allowed. Plant material need not have been grown by
designer. Accessories permitted. A TRI-COLOR Award is offered in the
class if there is a minimum of four entries in each of the three
classes. Space allowed is 30” wide by 24” deep.
